Someone wiser than me, Jawaharial Nehru, once said,
We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.
I tend to agree.
Adventure isn’t all about climbing mountains, discovering remote tribes in foreign lands or engaging in an activity that defies belief and common sense. Sure, it would be entertaining, but not always achievable when you have a young family!
It can be as simple as trying something new. Doing something outside of your everyday boundaries.
For our children, an adventure can be something uncomplicated, but fun. Climbing trees, building forts, catching yabbies. On a camping trip, every time they step outside our tent, the possibilities that await, are unlimited.
Yes, our adventures have a different quality to others. Our most recent, was driving to the outback of Australia. Red earth, stark beauty, unusual sights and cultures, so different to our suburban life.
Life is an adventure. For us, we are enjoying ours in the slow lane – soaking up the beauty and the charm of Australia and its open spaces.
Now that is what adventure means to me……
